There had been many similar outbreaks in recorded history that affected different parts of the globe. But Covid-19 stands out for such high international travel. It has spread rapidly in no time around the world, resulting in complete blockade in most countries. At the time of writing, there had been 39 million cases of Covid-19 globally and 1.1 million deaths in just 7–8 months.

Covid-19 is also different from previous pandemics because it is the first time that government agencies and health organizations around the world have used emerging Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technologies to fight the disease.
